I believe explosions like this one could be used in a desert war scene, WWII scene, and possibly some type of mine scene for a movie. I am also trying to perfect the dust/smoke trails from fragmentation. My goal for my upcoming explosions is to make them seem like explosions from incoming shells, grenades, mines, missiles, etc. I then used a spherical FumeFX source and two cylindrical FumeFX sources to create the main explosion. I have been working on some FumeFX Explosions and wanted to share one of them with you! In this explosion, I used chunks of a sphere using Rayfire, and then added to an FumeFX Object Source to create the trails. I then altered the FumeFX properties to create my desired look! For the main part of the explosion, I used one spherical simple source and two cylindrical simple sources. I then modified their properties to make them fade after about 10 frames. For the two fragment types, I added them to two different Object Sources. I then simulated those fragments to shoot up and out. After that, I created another sphere and fragmented it into approximately 60 small pieces. I then simulated the fragments of the sphere to shoot upwards. After creating the FumeFX grid, I then fragmented a sphere into about 7 larger pieces, only using the top half. I created the explosion by using a total of five sources. For the video, I used it as a missile explosion. In this explosion, I really tried to get the fragmentation/smoke trail effect looking really nice, and I believe I achieved that! I was thinking this explosion could be used for some kind of shelling effect, missile explosion, or mine explosion of some sort. To switch between the various types go to Emitter > Node Params > Particles > Type.My grand opening to my new website is available now. RealFlow's standard particle fluids provide a wide variety of different fluid types.
For faster simulates always consider → Dyverso. If you want to simulate huge volumes of water with splashes, foam, and bubbles, we recommend using RealFlow's → Hybrido technology. Standard particle fluids are mainly used for small- or mid-scale projects.
